Do You Want To Be Ideally Fit? Here Are Four Important Factors That Will Help You Achieve Your Goal

Why is it that every man's good intentions to achieve his maximum potential level of fitness, usually ends in failure? A failure, which normally has to wait until the following New Year, when yet another resolution is made, which, in all probability will fail just like the numerous others which have gone before. Here are just four simple to follow ways, selected from the thousands of others that are just as effective in their results. Please bear in mind that even these few topics are not covered in their entirety in this short article. This article is only meant as a guide to help you understand better where you should be concentrating your efforts.

1) Eat Healthy Food

You don't need to starve yourself to be healthy. Just avoid junk food and count those calories. You will be surprised how easy it is to lose that fat and turn it into muscle. Do not forget the importance of a daily intake of a reasonable amount of fruit and vegetables. Food that is good for you usually is delicious too. So why not continue to eat delicious food rather than greasy burgers and mushy chips.

2) Lift Weights

Apart from eating well, the best way to turn your fat into muscle is to lift weights regularly. At least three times a week. The best way to improve your metabolism is to increase the strength of your muscles, and the best way to increase the strength of your muscles is by lifting weights. They need not be overly heavy weights, but, more importantly, over the course of every week, you must make sure that you concentrate on all parts of your body. Do not improve the muscles in your upper body while neglecting to look after your lower body. Pumping iron is not only good for you, it is fun too. So much fun that it is easy to get addicted to it. Once you start, you won't want to stop, and those sessions will become the highlight of your week.

3) Cardiovascular Exercise

This type of exercise is commonly known as simply "cardio". It concentrates on keeping your heart in top shape. A healthy heart keeps your blood circulating to all parts of your body, which keeps your whole body in tip-top shape. Some people say that walking on a treadmill or pushing pedals on an exercise bike is boring, but you don't lose any of the benefit the effort is giving you if you do the exercise in front of your favorite television program or while reading a book on a stand. In any case, when the weather is suitable, why not go out for a real walk, jog, run, or bicycle ride. As long as you are not breathing in polluted air, exercising outside is every bit as beneficial as exercising indoors.

4) Stay Motivated

After the initial enthusiasm of starting a new fitness regime has faded, it is often difficult to stay motivated. Soon trips to the gym get missed and a few unhealthy titbits find their way into your mouth. As time goes on the lapses get more and more frequent. However, there are many ways to prevent this from happening, but in my experience, the best is to have someone take photographs of you on a regular basis and to keep a record of important measurements of your progress. For example, your weight, the size of weights you are working with, and endurance times on the treadmill and other exercise equipment. There is nothing more motivational than being able to look at your records and photos so that you can prove both to yourself and others, that your efforts are indeed worthwhile. This ability alone will keep you motivated until a healthy lifestyle becomes the natural and only way of life for you.
